Event Description: Help stop this dangerous legislation! We need impacted people (trans people as well as their parents, friends, and family) to show up to testify. Sign up to testify HERE (best to do so by end-of-day Wednesday, Feb 26). If you cannot testify in person, please consider leaving a public comment HERE.
The stakes have never been higher. We need a massive turnout today. We need Iowans to show up and speak out in solidarity with our partners and the LGBTQ+ community. Even your presence at the Capitol can make the difference. It is critical we show lawmakers that this legislation is against the will of the Iowans they represent.
If we don’t keep the pressure up, this bill could reach the Governor’s desk by Thursday afternoon. We cannot let that happen!
Date: Thursday, February 27, 2025
Time: 9:30 – 11:00 AM
Location: The Iowa State Capitol (Room 103), 1007 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50319 USA
Notes: The Iowa House version of the Iowa Civil Rights Removal Act (HF 583, formerly HSB 242) cleared committee Monday (Feb 24), and the Iowa Senate version (SF 418) advanced Tuesday (Feb 25). The vote in the House is razor-thin, and the more pressure we apply, the better our chances of stopping this dangerous legislation.
